About Dyneema^® UD.

Dyneema^® Unidirectional (UD) material for armor solutions comprise multiple layers of Dyneema^® fibers.

In each layer the fibers are placed perpendicular to those in the adjacent layers - which allows the energy from the impact of a ballistic threat to be distributed along the fibers much faster and more efficiently than in conventional, woven fabrics.

The key difference between UD products made for soft ballistic (SB) and hard ballistic (HB) applications is that Dyneema^® SB products feature a thin layer of film on the top and bottom of the layered composite. This increases pliability while also protecting the material from undue abrasion.
