Law enforcement inserts made with Dyneema^®

Dyneema^® HB (Hard Ballistic) products for law enforcement inserts and shields are made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE)- able to maintain high levels of protection at a reduced weight compared to traditional steel and other high performance fiber materials.

By reducing the weight of individual inserts at the same protection level, we are able to increase the surface area being protected without affecting movement and flexibility. For example, side panels can be added to front and back inserts to protect a larger area.

Inserts made with patented Dyneema^® UD material can provide comprehensive protection against heavy, more penetrating rifle threats.

Specifically, inserts made with Dyneema^® HB products can enable:

Stand-alone protection against AK47 MSC and NATO Ball threats.

Ability to stop armor piercing (AP) rounds, when used in combination with ceramic strike face.

Opportunities to add protection in other critical body areas, such as side panels made with Dyneema^® without adding extra overall weight.

Multi-hit performance: Inserts made with Dyneema^® are able to maintain their performance integrity even after being hit by multiple threats.

Angle shot performance: Typically, inserts made with metal and other high performance fibers (including aramids) will deflect incoming threats at an angle, creating even more danger for nearby officers and civilians. Inserts made with Dyneema^® have been designed to capture the threat, thereby reducing the level of danger.

Edge shot performance: With high edge-shot performance, inserts made with Dyneema^® can be made smaller and therefore lighter, without sacrificing protection levels. This also enables a larger area of coverage with no extra weight.

Back-face deformation (BFD): Dyneema^® UD for inserts delivers high BFD performance against incoming threats, with the lowest possible weight. Our tests against various threats indicate a favorable backface deformation.

Durability and long life: Dyneema^® fiber is extremely durable and resistant to aging. Inserts made with Dyneema^® also can be just as long lasting.

Water resistance: The Dyneema^® fiber not only floats, but also is highly resistant to water absorption - which in turns mean that panels made with the material share these characteristics.
