Quality Control

DSM Dyneema ensures the highest possible quality of its final products by setting strict standards for every phase of the operation. This begins with the raw materials used to make Dyneema® products, and an extensive yet selected group of preferred suppliers. Besides selecting top quality preferred suppliers, DSM Dyneema constantly monitors the quality of the raw materials to ensure a consistent processing and quality of our product. Our most critical raw material is of course the Dyneema® fiber, which is solely made internally by DSM Dyneema, to ensure the highest possible quality.

In production, critical process and product characteristics are continuously controlled to ensure constant end-product quality. Our production specialists and researchers, in cooperation with our suppliers, are continuously looking for ways to improve the performance of the material, as well as production.

After production, Dyneema® UD undergoes a rigorous visual inspection. Trained personnel inspect for visual defects, against demanding specifications which have been set with our customers. Any roll which does not meet these specifications is scrapped. At a predefined test frequency, a test package is made from a mother roll, which is subjected to a ballistic test against a defined threat. A mother roll usually constitutes of 9-10 boxes. For every shipment, a summary of the QC test results is available on customer's request. This summary is also available per box on request.
